Joe focuses his practice on venture investments, growth equity, private equity and M&A, and corporate governance. Committed to offering his clients practical advice and creative solutions, Joe draws on his wide variety of experience and keen eye for detail to anticipate clients' needs as he helps them navigate a broad range of transactional matters.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Joe began his career at a leading AmLaw 100 firm with a global private equity practice, as well as a top-tier international law firm focused exclusively on the start-up and innovation economy, where he collectively represented a number of private equity sponsors, asset managers, emerging companies, and venture capital funds. 

Joe is a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude, was an editor on the Cardozo Law Review, and participated in the Tech Startup Clinic.

Representative experience

Represented the Morgan family in their purchase of limited partnership interest in the Philadelphia Phillies.

Advised Vytal Global in its acquisition of certain assets and team members from TURN, and its expansion into the U.S. market thereafter.

Advised Paris-based Reveal on its cross-border merger with US-based Crossbeam.

Advised ALDO Group in its acquisition, alongside Authentic Brands Group, of Sperry.

Advised Dynasty Equity on co-leading the Series A investment round for TMRW Sports.

Advising Major League Pickleball on its Merger with the PPA Tour to form the United Pickleball Association.

Represented The Facilities Group in its acquisition of United Service Companies.

Fenway Sports Group and a consortium of American Sports team owners in a multi-billion dollar partnership with PGA TOUR to launch PGA TOUR Enterprises.

Represented International Finance Corporation in connection with numerous strategic growth equity investments.

Represented Prime Movers Lab in connection with numerous convertible and preferred equity investments in early and late stage companies.

Represented RTW Investments in connection with numerous preferred equity investments in late stage companies.

Represented Paladin Capital on multiple venture investments.

Represented T.Rx on multiple venture investments.

*Represented Tiger Global Management in connection with numerous preferred equity investments in early and late stage companies.

*Represented Gigafund Management Company in connection with numerous preferred equity investments in early stage companies.

*Represented TPG Global in its agreement with Sixth Street Partners to become independent, unaffiliated businesses, with TPG retaining a passive minority economic stake in Sixth Street

*Represented Blackstone Group in the sales of DRB Financial Solutions.

*Represented Public Sector Pension Investment Board in its investment in Alliant Insurance Services.
