In the Trials category, Houston partners Maria Wyckoff Boyce and Cristina Espinosa Rodriguez enjoyed the rare distinction of winning as a pair. They obtained a US$152 million verdict on behalf of client ResMan in a trade secrets trial in the Eastern District of Texas over the company’s industry leading property management software. One of the first jury trials to have been tried in person after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the initial trial resulted in a mistrial after 15 people present in the courtroom tested positive for COVID. Washington D.C. partner Randy Prebula was recognized as a Law360 MVP in the Health Care category for his work helping multiple clients expedite regulatory approval for COVID-19-related testing and treatments. These included California-based Lucira Health Inc., which had developed one of the earliest rapid COVID-19 testing kits. Prebula helmed the team of regulatory lawyers that succeeded in getting the product approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
