Hogan Lovells 2024 Election Impact and Congressional Outlook Report
Lee & Lee was first established in 1955 while Hogan Lovells arrived in the city-state in 1998. In 2001, the two firms formed an integrated relationship to provide legal support for companies based in Southeast Asia and those looking to set up in the region. Since then, HLLL has been involved in several high-stake engagements in the areas of corporate finance and M&A, international arbitration, energy, banking and finance.
The strength of HLLL in Singapore is pivotal to Hogan Lovells’ overall expansion strategy in Southeast Asia and the broader Asia region. Buoyed by the recent strategic additions of Charlie Clayton-Payne in the Corporate & Finance practice and Nick Williams in Business Restructuring, HLLL’s headcount in Singapore has expanded to over 25 lawyers. The firm also deepened its offering recently by welcoming Mochamad Kasmali as a partner in corporate energy and resources in Indonesia. The expanded regional teams will continue to work together seamlessly to provide local and international advice to clients on a variety of legal matters, across the key Asia Pacific.
Looking ahead, Southeast Asia is poised to see an increase in economic ties and trade partnerships within the region and internationally, growing interest and opportunities for foreign investment, as well as thriving technological innovation across many sectors. These will create significant investment and commercial opportunities that will require an innovative, business-oriented approach to solving legal matters. In support of their clients’ evolving needs, HLLL will continue to strengthen its presence and expertise as it tracks the region’s growth as one of the largest and most influential collective economies in the world.
Adrian Chan, Head of the Corporate Department and Senior Partner at Lee & Lee, said, “Over the past two decades Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee has gone from strength to strength, providing clients with a one-stop shop for world class legal services, supported by an international network of knowledge and experience. With the prospect of a brighter business environment on the horizon, our teams look forward to continuing to guide clients through their journeys in Singapore and Southeast Asia.”
Commenting on the firm’s 20th anniversary, Alex Wong, Singapore Office Managing Partner at Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee, said, “I am very proud of the strong integrated relationship that Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee has built over the last twenty years. As the region looks ahead to post-COVID recovery, new areas of opportunities and risks will emerge for businesses, and they will require legal support that combines local expertise and international excellence. With Singapore as a hub for Southeast Asia, we look forward to further supporting our clients who are based here plus those looking to tap into one of the most exciting economic regions in the world, for years to come.”
