Dave's insurance practice reaches every corner of the market. He handles litigation and advises clients regarding directors and officers, cyber, crime/fidelity, M&A representation and warranty, commercial general liability, commercial property and personal lines policies. He manages exposures ranging from sprawling securities and M&A litigation to products liability and personal injury mass torts. He works with clients to write and revise insurance contracts, evaluate emerging risks, analyze existing coverage programs, and resolve insurance regulatory issues.
Dave was founding co-chair and is a member of Philly IDEAL, the diversity committee of Hogan Lovells Philadelphia, and serves on the firm's ethics committee. He is on the board of the Homeless Advocacy Project, and has been a HAP volunteer for more than 20 years. Prior to joining the firm in 1994, Dave was a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Reynolds of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Represented a major insurer in one of the first lawsuits arising under a cyber insurance policy.
Successfully defended a satellite-based internet services provider against consumer class action filed in three states.
Advised the largest Nordic insurance company on coverage for and defense of mass tort products liability litigation.
Successfully defended an electronic equipment supplier against two motions for temporary restraining orders.
Won summary judgment for a D&O insurer, overcoming challenges by insureds and the FDIC.
Successfully defended a major U.S. manufacturer against breach of warranty claims.
Defends insurance coverage, bad faith and class actions relating to COVID-19.
