Zoe Dong is a counsel in the firm’s global International Arbitration group, and is based in Hong Kong.

Zoe brings a wealth of experience for clients in high-value, complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes across the Asia Pacific region and globally. Her practice has a particular focus on commercial arbitration and complex commercial litigation disputes with a nexus to Greater China. Zoe excels in devising strategic plans for clients and coordinating these proceedings across borders (including in Hong Kong, Singapore, Mainland China, London, BVI and Cayman).

Zoe advises clients from a wide range of sectors including technology, manufacturing and industrials and energy and natural resources. Most recently she has been advising large Chinese SOEs on a range of private capital disputes. She has represented and advised clients under the rules of HKIAC, ICC, CIETAC, LCIA and ad hoc UNCITRAL.

Zoe graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a degree in law before completing her diploma in law in the UK and PCLL at The University of Hong Kong. Zoe is admitted to practice as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales and holds a qualification certificate (non-practicing) in PRC. Zoe is also a solicitor advocate with Higher Rights of Audience before the civil courts of England & Wales. Zoe is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Representing a PRC company in the IT services industry in an arbitration regarding a dispute arising out of a loan agreement together with its ancillary security agreements (HKIAC, Hong Kong).

Representing a Singaporean HNWI and BVI companies in a shareholder dispute over the management of a global cryptocurrency. Includes Cayman court and PRC proceedings (HKIAC, Hong Kong).

Representing a listed US pharmaceutical company in an arbitration against a listed PRC pharmaceutical company in respect of a dispute arising out of an exclusive license agreement (HKIAC, Hong Kong).

Representing a leading U.S.-based PE fund an arbitration concerning binding facts that support unfair prejudice claim or just and equitable winding up claim before the BVI court (UNCITRAL, Hong Kong).

Acting for a Chinese HNW individual and a financial firm in a dispute regarding investment ownership  (ICC, Paris; HKIAC, Hong Kong).

Representing a private equity fund regarding enforcement measures in Hong Kong court concerning a dispute arising out of an investment agreement into a Hong Kong listed company (ICC, Hong Kong). 

Advising and representing a Chinese energy company in an LCIA arbitration regarding tax payment dispute (LCIA, London).

Representing a leading PRC company in the IT sevices industry in an arbitration regarding a dispute on redemption of preferred shares held by its preferred shareholders (HKIAC, Hong Kong).

Representing a leading PRC company in the industry of Information Technology Services in an arbitration regarding its investment in a leading online medical service provider (UNCITRAL, Hong Kong).

Advising and representing a private equity fund in an ICC arbitration regarding the repayment of convertible bonds (ICC, Hong Kong). 

Advising a leading Taiwan-based PE investment company in a dispute arising from the subscription of convertible bonds issued by a Cayman company with operations in the PRC (ICC, Hong Kong).

Advising and representing a well-known non-profit hospital system in the U.S. in an arbitration regarding a sale of goods dispute for the delivery of medical gears (HKIAC, Hong Kong).
