Member of the Hogan Lovells Technology, Media and Communications, and Commercial Group since 2020 and formerly of the Antitrust, Competition and Economic Regulation Group, Eugenia Gambarara advises companies on a wide range of commercial and consumer protection issues. Her main focus is on commercial and consumer protection law in digital and e-commerce sectors, with prior experience in competition law. She is always ready to advise and assist clients on all matters relevant to consumer protection as well as compliance with regulatory frameworks like the P2B, DSA, and DMA. Eugenia’s in-depth knowledge of these areas of the law is further bolstered by her professionalism and her promptness in responding to queries as well as her effectiveness in resolving legal issues involving both national and community markets. 

 

She advises on a wide range of commercial and consumer protection issues, including proceedings before the Italian Competition Authority on unfair commercial practices and unfair terms in the digital and e-commerce fields. Eugenia is also well-versed in trade law and compliance with export control legislation, particularly with regard to dual-use and military items. 

Eugenia joined the firm in 2009 after completing an internship at the Italian Competition Authority where she focused on competition law and regulatory matters. She graduated from the LUISS Guido Carli University in both law and economics, and is a lecturer on State aid in the Master’s program ‘Antitrust and Market Regulation’ at the Tor Vergata University in Rome.

Advising CNP Partners in the notification of the acquisition of the insurance portfolio of a leading Bank before the Italian Antitrust Authority.

 

Advising Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Europe B.V. in the notification before the European Commission of the acquisition of Shell Italia Spa/Shell Aviation Spa's assets.

 

Advising several on-line operators in unfair commercial practices proceedings before the Italian Antitrust Authority.

 

Advising Volkswagen Bank on a case of alleged cartel in the consumer credit market.

Advising Vodafone on a case of alleged cartel in the telecommunications market.

Advising GE Healthcare on a case of alleged abuses of dominant position in the diagnostic imaging equipment maintenance market.
