Managing conflicting beliefs in the workplace

Managing employees’ different beliefs in the workplace can be a complex issue for employers, especially given the proliferation of views on social media. If an employee shares opinions with which others disagree, even if this is done outside of the workplace, employers often worry about their own reputation and want to avoid conflict between employees. However, they also need to respect an employee’s rights to express their thoughts and beliefs.

The law in this area is evolving and identifies key points when balancing competing interests. Please join us for a short webinar to discuss the latest developments and what else to expect this year. We’ll cover:

  • What counts as a protected belief under the Equality Act;
  • When should an employer act in response to an expressed belief;
  • Factors that determine if an employer's response is appropriate; and
  • How to reduce the risk of legal claims.
