Sessions

ESG: From compliance to performance | Tuesday, 21 June | 9:30 am – 11:00 am (EDT)

On 21 March 2022, in one of its most significant rulemakings in recent years, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposed rules that would require public companies to provide investors with extensive, consistent, and comparable climate-related information in their Exchange Act and Securities Act filings. These proposed rules will require significant advance effort by public companies to facilitate compliance.

Please join us on Tuesday, 21 June for a panel discussion to learn more about the proposed rules, their implications for public companies, and what you can be doing now to prepare. The session will also provide a comparative perspective from the UK and EU and illustrate how our clients are at the forefront of driving change in the ESG arena.

Speakers:

  • Ryan Lynch, Practice Director - Sustainability, British Standards Institution (BSI)
  • Tess Virmani, AGC & EVP - Public Policy, Head of ESG, Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA)
  • Adrian Walker, Partner, Hogan Lovells
  • Rita Hunter, Senior Legal Consultant, Hogan Lovells
  • Brian O'Fahey, Partner, Hogan Lovells

Boom and bust: What is next for Digital Assets & U.S. Regulation, post-WH EO and Crypto Winter? | Wednesday, 22 June | 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm (EDT), followed by a reception

At the beginning of 2022, the White House released its Executive Order on Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets, laying out policy objectives to protect customers, investors, and businesses, while safeguarding financial stability and improving financial inclusion. With increasing institutionalization, a coordinated approach across stakeholders that supports innovation and accountability is key to sustained growth for digital assets.

Yet, since March, volatility in the crypto markets has surged to levels reminiscent of previous eras of excessive hype, pointing to a crypto winter. Stablecoins, which have been a topic of focus among regulators for several years, have yet again raised concerns over financial stability and several risks (e.g., liquidity, redemption, vulnerability to runs, adequate oversight, collateral and backing mechanisms).

Join blockchain and regulatory experts on Wednesday, 22 June to discuss the impetus for companies to embrace digital assets, and the underlying regulatory challenges and developments to date. Further, the discussion will touch upon the future of stablecoins and related regulation.

The panel discussion will run from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm, followed by a cocktail and networking reception.

Speakers:

  • Matt Homer, Former NYDFS and Executive in Residence, NYCA Partners
  • Chen Arad, Co-founder & CEO, Solidus Labs
  • Kaitlin Asrow, Executive Deputy Superintendent, Research and Innovation Division, New York State Department of Financial Service
  • John Salmon, Partner, Hogan Lovells
  • Liz Boison, Partner, Hogan Lovells
