With her twin passions for intellectual property and competition law and experience in commercial contracts and regulatory matters (ranging from data protection to food law), she is able to cover much of a product’s life cycle. 

PJ Kaur offers strategic brand protection counselling and has extensive experience in trademark portfolio management, enforcement and litigation as well as IP transactions. PJ Kaur is also the go-to counsel for competition investigations and competition compliance advice. 

PJ Kaur graduated with a First Class Honours in law. PJ Kaur speaks English, Cantonese, Hindi and Punjabi fluently and has a basic level of Mandarin and French.

Representative experience

Acting for TWG Tea Company in trademark litigation with Tsit Wing (HK) Co., Ltd – one of the highest profile cases of its kind in Hong Kong, which was granted appeal at the highest level.

Advising a Swiss industry association on its certification mark and enforcement actions, including a rare successful High Court appeal overturning the Trade Marks Registrar's opposition decision.

Representing a high-end luxury furniture and lifestyle company on its global trade mark and designs portfolio of over 300 trademarks and 200 designs in over 30 jurisdictions. 

Assisting a Japanese gaming and entertainment company with Hong Kong Customs recordals and enforcement actions, incuding large-scale raids in Hong Kong. 

Advising a global technology services provider on the implications of Hong Kong's public consultation on copyright and AI and the proposed amendments to the Copyright Ordinance. 

Advising a sports and multipurpose venue in Hong Kong on high-value brand sponsorship deals and hospitality product and venue hiring agreements.

Advising on the IP aspects of a multinational medical device company’s exercise to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. 

Assisting multinational companies with IP transactions, including IP due diligence in potential acquisitions and distribution and licensing agreements. 

Advising a global gaming and entertainment company on various multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues in APAC, including data protection, content moderation, consumer laws and virtual currencies. 

Advising various multinational food and cosmetics companies on Hong Kong food and labelling regulations and preparing submissions to the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety.

Acting for a global solutions provider in settling a competition investigation and proceedings against it, in the first case of its kind in Hong Kong. 

Providing competition counselling to global organisations (including in the fashion, consumer, media and entertainment, financial and pharmaceutical industries) on a range of competition issues. 

Advising a global bank and local banking association on competition issues surrounding an industry technology project.
