Lacy takes a client-focused, results-oriented approach to dispute resolution. As counsel in the Houston and Denver Litigation groups, Lacy handles a broad range of complex, high-exposure disputes for global clients in heavily regulated industries.

Lacy's practice focuses primarily on the intersection of litigation and regulation. She works closely with clients on internal and government investigations, complex bet-the-company disputes, and cross-border disputes. She has represented companies spanning a number of industries, including energy, environmental, and life sciences. Lacy understands the impact of litigation on business operations and advises clients on litigation strategies to meet their commercial needs and goals for resolution. She assists clients in all stages of litigation, including case assessment, factual investigation, electronic discovery, depositions, expert discovery, dispositive motions, mediation, trial, and appeal.

Representative experience

Successfully settled parallel criminal and civil theft of trade secret suits against Chinese oilfield service equipment manufacturer. 

Successfully settled multi-faceted cross-border dispute involving intellectual property rights, EPA consent decree compliance, and preliminary injunctive relief brought by carbon black producer.

Successfully defended LNG company in environmental permitting dispute in administrative trial and on subsequent judicial appeals in lower and appeallete courts. 

Successfully settled US$200m commercial dispute with Italian exploration and production company post-appeal after defense-verdict at trial.

Successfully settled US$150m commercial dispute against gas pipeline company on the eve of trial. 

Represented Chinese telecommunications company in high-profile, multifaceted global investigation and trade compliance work involving DOJ consent decree.

Successfully settled EPA enforcement action against auto parts manufacturer.

Successfully obtained DOJ declination and voluntary dismissal of False Claims Act qui tam litigation against Fortune 100 technology company. 

Successfully settled US$700m dispute arising out of an industrial fire at a storage and terminal facility on the eve of trial. 

Represented Fortune 100 chemical company in multi-faceted cross-boarder criminal and civil investigations related to waste water disposal.

Successfully obtained dismissal and DOJ declinations in multiple DOJ investigations against health care company involving FCA, AKS, Stark violations, and whistleblower claims.

Represented South African mining company in US$20m commercial dispute, including preparing successful motion to compel arbitration and partial motion to dismiss.

Represented health care diagnostics company in SEC investigation, including successfully avoiding enforcement action.

Represented health care company in evaluating US$100m securities litigation risk in corporate acquisition.

Represented government defense contractor in liability assessment in US$200m commercial dispute with foreign government.

Represented exploration/production company in two consolidated suits arising out of a gas supply chain in Western Australia, including preparing successful motion to dismiss for forum non conveniens.
