Düsseldorf, 7 June 2024 - JUVE Patent has identified five Unified Patent Court (UPC) cases as the most influential cases in determining the future direction of the court which was established in June 2023. Hogan Lovells is representing clients in three of the five cases; including Gucci in a printing process suit filed by Agfa; Xiaomi in the Munich portion of a suit filed by electronics giant Panasonic; Meril Life Sciences in a dispute with competitor Edwards Lifesciences.

Our EMEA IP Disputes practice – made up of 90+ patent litigators across the UPC contracting states, the UK and Spain – currently advises clients on more than 73 cases (including counterclaims) before five different divisions and the court of appeal, including our work for Supponor in the Managing IP Impact Award winning case AIM Sport Vision v Supponor.

Miriam Gundt, Global Managing Partner for Intellectual Property, said: “We are immensely proud to be one of the leading firms representing clients in UPC cases. Having three of our cases recognized as the most influential, demonstrates how we continuously strive to be the leading IP practice across major markets, being entrusted with our clients’ most complex issues – meeting our clients where they need us most. We are the leading firm that has top-tier patent litigators in all major EU jurisdictions and the UK. Litigating in the UPC is new to many, but not to us. We have been acting for clients in cross-border European patent litigation since 2000.”
