London, Singapore, 13 December 2024 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells announced today the expansion of its Singapore office and private equity and funds practice area with the addition of three highly acclaimed and experienced partners, Siew Kam Boon, Timothy Goh and Thomas Kim, slated to join the firm in January 2025.

The trio will join from Dechert LLP and will become part of the firm’s Private Equity and Funds practice, based in Singapore. Siew Kam will also assume the role of Head of Private Equity for the APAC region.

James Doyle, Practice Group Leader – Corporate & Finance, commented:  “We are thrilled to welcome Siew Kam, Tim and Thomas to Hogan Lovells. The addition of this group is a key part of our vision to grow our transactional practice in Singapore and Southeast Asia more broadly. Their unique experiences and capabilities will allow us to expand our scope of work and the types of clients we can service in this important region. This strategic move further strengthens the firm’s capabilities in private equity, funds, and secondaries in the APAC region. We look forward to integrating them into our wider global Corporate & Finance practice and to developing further this part of the practice.”

Siew Kam Boon most recently held the position of co-head of Dechert’s private equity group and brings extensive expertise in M&A, private equity, secondaries, emerging growth, and venture capital across sectors including technology, healthcare/life sciences, media, FMCG and energy. Timothy Goh specializes in handling cross-border corporate and commercial matters, including M&A, private equity, secondaries, joint ventures and venture capital transactions. Tim is also known for his expertise in technology, healthcare/life sciences and sustainable finance. Thomas Kim is a leading funds lawyer with a focus on private equity, venture capital, private credit funds, and regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions of fund management businesses, secondary transactions, and ESG-related matters.

Siew Kam said, “The firm’s deep commitment to growing in Singapore and Southeast Asia coupled with its global reach in strategic markets and high-quality broad offering provide an exciting opportunity to expand and deepen our high-end cross border practice focused on the intersection between private capital and regulation. Hogan Lovells is the perfect place to service clients operating in an ever-evolving and complex business and regulatory landscape.”

Tim added, “Joining this remarkable firm marks a thrilling chapter for our team. We are inspired to harness the firm's expansive global platform and strategic Asia focus for our clients. I'm excited to join a firm that shares my unwavering commitment to advancing ESG principles. In today's complex global landscape, integrating ESG into our practice is not just a responsibility—it's an opportunity to drive meaningful change for our clients, communities, and the planet.”

Thomas commented, “I’m honoured to be joining Hogan Lovells to spearhead the launch of the Singapore funds practice. Hogan Lovells strong global presence and market leading reputation in the private funds and secondaries space offers an exceptional opportunity for me to address the evolving needs of clients in the Asia funds industry. I look forward to working with Siew Kam, Tim and my new colleagues to drive the firm’s growth and success in the APAC region.”

Ed Harris, Practice Area Lead – Private Equity & Funds added: “We are thrilled by the continued expansion of our private equity, funds and secondaries offering, which is a strategic priority for the firm. This trio bolsters our PE and relevant expertise in the APAC region and will allow us to deepen client relationships, and expand our capabilities and offerings, building upon recent investments we’ve made in this area.”

Lloyd Parker, Regional Managing Partner for Asia Pacific, said: “The addition of these three partners comes on the heels of our recent expansion in Hong Kong where we hired a team of five in October 2024 and our hiring last month of Rob Palmer in Singapore. Those expansions coupled with these additions underscores the firm’s increased capabilities in Singapore as well as our ongoing commitment to the APAC region and we expect this trend to continue.”
