This transaction builds upon a string of high-profile deals in sports private equity advised by Hogan Lovells’ renowned sports practice. The group recently guided Dynasty Equity, a global sports investment firm, on co-leading the Series A investment round for TMRW Sports, which is focused on building a progressive approach to sports, media, and entertainment, and was founded by some of the biggest names in golf, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Mike McCarley. The group also advised Michael Arougheti, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ares Management, and Mitchell Goldstein and Michael Smith, Co-Heads of the Ares Management Credit Group, as part of an acquisition of the Major League Baseball franchise, the Baltimore Orioles. In February 2024, Hogan Lovells represented Fenway Sports Group and a consortium of American sports team owners – the Strategic Sports Group – in a major financial and strategic collaboration with PGA TOUR Enterprises, a new subsidiary of the PGA TOUR that includes the assets of the PGA TOUR.
The Hogan Lovells deal team was led by New York Office Managing Partner Michael Kuh and partner Matt Schernecke (both New York), senior associates Zohra Sayedy (New York) and Michael Basse (Washington, D.C.), associate Andrew Klokiw (New York), and visiting international lawyer Harrison Gower (New York).
