Hogan Lovells 2024 Election Impact and Congressional Outlook Report
“Stuart was a remarkable leader and an exceptional lawyer,” said Washington, D.C. Office Managing Partner Ajay Kuntamukkala. “His ability to connect with people and his forward thinking approach to corporate finance made him an invaluable advisor to many senior executives. We are proud to honor his legacy with the Stuart Stein Lounge.”
Stein spent almost the entirety of his career in Hogan Lovells’ Washington, D.C. office. He joined the firm nearly three decades ago as an associate, became a partner in 1994, and quickly established himself as a top corporate lawyer for financial institutions in Washington, D.C. He was the head of the Corporate Practice Group (now Corporate & Finance) and played a key role as a member of the core group that analyzed and executed the combination and integration of Hogan Lovells, creating the firm as we know it today.
He was ahead of his time when it came to data analysis and its value to corporate finance. His breadth of experience, calming personality, and understanding of the complexities of a global law firm, made him the clear choice to become Chief Legal Officer in 2017. He is remembered as an outstanding lawyer and a respected, impartial, and thoughtful decision maker.
The Stuart Stein Lounge is a one-of-a-kind place in Washington, D.C., designed to foster team building and collaboration by providing a less formal space for conversations and meetings. The Lounge offers a coffee bar with a barista and tableside service with offerings of pastries and other light refreshments.
Similar to the Penson Lounge in the firm’s London office, the Stuart Stein Lounge features private, intimate booths with Wi-Fi and USB ports, and open seating banquets surrounded by plants and glass for privacy. A plaque in the Lounge honors Stein’s many contributions to the profession and the Washington, D.C. community.
“An important component to providing great legal service is building strong relationships, and we are excited to offer this new space to our clients and colleagues,” Washington, D.C. Deputy Office Managing Partner Carine Stoick said. “The Stuart Stein Lounge honors Stuart’s legacy by providing a welcoming place to connect and collaborate.”
As one of Washington, D.C.’s oldest and largest law firms, Hogan Lovells has more than 530 lawyers in its D.C. office, and represents many of the world’s leading companies, providing solutions at the intersection of business and government.
