In a recent installment of our HL Tech and Tel series, our Tech and Telecoms Sector Group Lead, Mark Brennan, connects with Nathan Searle and Andrea Montague-Doghan to discuss the recent decision in English Courts expanding the scope of court jurisdiction in relation to consumer claims for online transactions.

In the 14th episode of our HL Tech and Tel series, host Mark Brennan connects with Nathan Searle and Andrea Montague-Doghan from our London office to discuss the recent decision in English Courts expanding the scope of court jurisdiction in relation to consumer claims for online transactions.

“It’s significant because the English Court in this case decided that as a matter of public policy, these consumer rights under English law need to be decided by the English Court,” notes Nathan. “So it represents an exception to the general law that these will be dealt with by an arbitrator.”
