Nina advises companies, governments, and trade associations on international trade and investment rules, specializing in EU law and environmental law. She provides guidance on export controls, sanctions, customs, product standards and trade policy, particularly in relation to global supply chains and the intersection of international trade and EU laws.

Nina assists clients in navigating all aspects of EU trade controls and trade defense, including anti-subsidy, anti-dumping and safeguard measures. She represents clients in investigations and defense proceedings before the European Commission, the EU Courts, and other EU procedures. Nina has extensive experience advising on export controls, including securing licenses, conducting investigations and developing compliance policies. She regularly provides guidance to clients on complex sanctions issues regarding international transactions.

In addition to trade defense and export controls, Nina assists clients with supply chain due diligence and reporting requirements, human rights and forced labor regulations, and the compliance of trade measures with EU and WTO rules. Her industry expertise spans sectors including automotive, pharmaceuticals, food, medical devices, aviation, and financial services.

Her experience includes advising governments and municipalities on climate change-related issues, multilateral environmental agreements, and contributing to international human rights projects. She has participated in UN negotiations, providing legal advice on international law and offering strategic advice on negotiation proposals.

Nina holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and is fluent in German, French, and English.

Representative experience

Advising various clients on EU customs requirements, including classification, valuation and rules of origin, and internal procedures.

Advising multinational companies on sustainability reporting disclosures under the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Advising private equity clients on EU investment screening and trade controls in high-value acquisitions, obtaining authorizations in EU member states.

Advising multinational companies on compliance with UN, OECD, EU and Member States due diligence requirements, reviewing and revising procedures and global compliance programs.

Advising multinational companies on requirements under EU Green Deal legislation, including CBAM, ETS, PPWR and Green Claims Directive.

Assisting multinational clients in trade defense proceedings before the European Commission.

 Advising civil society and international organizations on WTO law and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). 

Advising governments on the negotiation and drafting of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), providing strategic guidance on market access, regulatory alignment, and dispute resolution mechanisms.*
