Brett Weinstein focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and mass torts.  He has successfully represented clients at all stages of the dispute process, from pre-litigation resolution through trial.  He has litigated in federal and state courts for clients in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and data privacy.  Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Brett was an attorney at an international law firm in New York, where he gained litigation experience representing a major credit reporting agency in cases under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and a chemical manufacturer in litigation over alleged water contamination. 

Brett maintains an active pro bono practice primarily on behalf of asylum seekers.

Representative experience

Successfully won summary judgment on behalf of a national credit reporting agency in federal court in New York on claims that it had reported a consumer’s mortgage account inaccurately.*

Successfully moved to dismiss claims against a national credit reporting agency in federal court in New York based on a novel theory of liability related to the statute of limitations of debts.*

Won motion to dismiss and appeal in state court in New York on behalf of a national credit reporting agency on the grounds that Plaintiff did not have standing.*

Attained grant of asylum for Guatemalan client as lead trial lawyer in immigration court.*

Defended chemical manufacturer in dozens of lawsuits in federal and state court related to Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).*
