As a member of our Appellate & Supreme Court practice, Sam focuses on appellate litigation in federal and state courts but has experience in all stages of litigation, including dispositive motions. Sam has briefed cases at every level of the federal judiciary, including six cases before the United States Supreme Court at the certiorari and merits stages, on a variety of subjects, including criminal, constitutional, civil, and tort law. Sam also practices before state courts and has argued before the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Sam earned her law degree from the University of Virginia and her undergraduate degree in history from the University of Oregon (‘Sco Ducks!). After graduating, she spent several years in the Supreme Court practice of another D.C. law firm before clerking for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
