Maura Calsyn brings over 25 years of legal and policy experience across both the public and private sectors, with a deep expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments and anticipating health policy developments. She is a trusted advisor, playing a pivotal role in several significant regulatory actions that have shaped the health care landscape, with specialized knowledge in areas such as Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, the federal health insurance marketplace, drug pricing, and federal public health and human services programs. 

Maura has held senior leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), most recently as the Acting Assistance Secretary for Aging. She previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health. Earlier in her career, she directed policy initiatives at the Center for American Progress and served in the HHS General Counsel’s office. During her tenure at HHS, she worked closely with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on key issues such as product coverage and reimbursement, and with the FDA, CDC, and NIH on a broad spectrum of public health initiatives.

Throughout her career, Maura has advised a broad range of stakeholders in the health care ecosystem, including biotechnology companies, hospitals, academic medical centers, health technology firms, drug and devise manufacturers, patient advocacy organizations, trade associations, and state Medicaid agencies. Her extensive experience positions her as a strategic counsellor on complex legal and regulatory matters across the life sciences and health care sectors.
