Natalie K. Edwards is Head of our New York Financial Institutions M&A practice. She has ~ 25 years of experience advising on complex domestic and cross-border acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, carveouts, reorganizations, strategic investments, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. 

As a former Managing Director of Citigroup Inc. and the former Head of its Global Corporate M&A legal team, Natalie managed global strategic proprietary M&A for Citi and worked on some of the most significant M&A transactions in the financial institutions sector. 

Prior to her joining Citi, Natalie was Counsel at an international law firm, practicing out of Shanghai. She has also been a senior M&A attorney at firms in London and New York. During that time, Natalie worked with public and private companies, private equity firms, and asset managers on M&A and corporate transactions spanning a range of industries, including financial institutions, pharmaceutical, retail, technology, and telecommunications. 

In 2021, Natalie launched one of the first Black-led social impact private equity funds in the U.S. employee-ownership space as a Partner and the Head of Legal & Compliance. She is also a member of the Board of Friends of the Roger Lehecka Double Discovery Center, which helps first-generation low-income students achieve their college dreams.

Citi on its acquisition of an unsecured personal loan portfolio and credit card business from TISCO Financial Group.*

Citi on its long-term distribution agreement with Chubb Seguros Mexico, an affiliate of Chubb Limited, for non-life insurance products to customers in Mexico.*

Citi on its launch and spin-off of Proxymity, a digital investor communications platform. *

Citi on the sale of its consumer business and small and medium enterprise operations in Colombia to Banco Colpatria Multibanca Colpatria S.A., a subsidiary of Scotiabank.*

Citi on the sale of the Citibanamex asset management business to BlackRock and the entry into a long-term distribution agreement for BlackRock, involving approx. US$31bn in assets under management.*

Citi on the sale of its fixed income analytics and index businesses to London Stock Exchange Group.*

Citi on sale of CitiFinancial Canada, Inc. to an investor group led by J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC and affiliates and Värde Partners.*

Citi on the sale of its consumer banking business in Argentina to Banco Santander Rio.*
