Romain Marchand is a Partner in the Paris office of Hogan Lovells where he serves as a member of the firm’s Infrastructure, Energy, Resources, and Projects practice group.
Romain advises on the development and financing of projects in the infrastructure and energy fields, such as core infrastructure (highways, airports), conventional energy (including renewables), energy transition (energy, energy efficiency, electrification, new molecules), and transport projects. He has significant experience advising sponsors, lenders, multilateral institutions, and contractors on the development, structuring and financing (including loans, bonds, hybrid and derivatives financings) of major greenfield or brownfield projects in France and internationally.
He also has a strong experience advising on M&A transactions in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, he practiced with a magic circle firm and with an American multinational law firm where he serves as a key member of the firms’ Projects and Infrastructure practice groups.
He speaks French and English fluently.
Representative experience
Advised the members of a consortium led by Elyse Energy in the context of the development of SAF projects in France (including carbon capture and hydrogen facilities) that received EU grants.*
Advised Altitude Infra in the context of the €300m+ refinancing of a portfolio of 8 fibre optic networks across France.*
Advised Noven Group in the context of the partial refinancing of its indebtedness to finance the capex to build SAF storage capabilities.*
Advised the lenders to the consortium led by NGE, Quaero Capital and Ascendi on the financing of the concession of the development, maintenance, operation and financing of the French A69 toll road.*
Advised the lenders to SOFIAC in the context of the first greenfield project financing of energy efficiency projects in France.*
Advised the lenders on the financing, construction and operation of a wind farm under a corporate PPA by InfraVia Capital Partners located in Sweden.*
Advised Electra, a leading French developer of EV charging station, on its fund raisings and the development and financing of its projects in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Germany.*
Advised the lenders to Powerdot (owned by Antin) in the context of the €165m green financing to finance the capex needs to roll out a EV charging network across Europe. *
Advised the seller on the bidding process to sale 10+ SPVs owning solar power plants at different stages of development with the negotiation of the project documents and finance documents.*
Advised a French infrastructure fund on the corporate restructuring and subsequent portfolio refinancing of brownfield assets located across France by a new €117m senior non-recourse debt facility.*
