As part of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Fraud team, Alex Riposi advises clients on complex commercial disputes, often involving allegations of fraud and dishonesty. She has particular experience in acting for clients based in the CIS region and for financial institutions.
Alex's work frequently involves cross-border issues and she has experience of litigation in foreign courts, including in Hong Kong, Australia, Italy and the British Virgin Islands. Alex has advised clients in relation to freezing injunctions and acted on disputes which are at the intersection between the criminal and civil law.
Alex has undertaken a six-month secondment to the Litigation team in Hong Kong and is actively involved in the firm's pro bono practice, having acted for victims of international human rights violations and helped clients obtain compensation for criminal injuries.
Representative experience
Acting for ENRC in the 47-day High Court trial of its claims against Dechert, Mr Gerrard and the SFO for breach of confidence, breach of fiduciary and other duties, and misfeasance in public office.
Acting for a major UK bank in a claim for breach of warranty and indemnity relating to the sale of a credit card portfolio.
Advising the Defendant in Hong Kong High Court proceedings for an injunction over the assets of various companies allegedly involved in a cross-border fraudulent scheme.
Advising a UK prime brokerage firm in relation to Italian proceedings concerning the misappropriation of shares in an Italian listed company, supported by a freezing order.
Acting for a major UK bank in multiple sets of High Court proceedings involving interest rate hedging products.
Acting on a pro bono basis for Yazidi victims of human rights violations and crimes committed by ISIS fighters in proceedings for victim compensation brought in the New South Wales Court of Appeal.
