Ruud has an excellent track record in complicated cases. Examples include obtaining a cross-border patent infringement injunction at a time this was considered impossible, successfully enforcing a second medical use patent that was revoked in almost every other jurisdiction, and seizing evidence in a logistical warehouse in the Netherlands in absence of a patent in force in the Netherlands, which evidence was pivotal in securing injunctions in Germany. The latter is a good example of how Ruud works together with his international colleagues to develop an overall winning strategy.
Besides litigation, Ruud also works with clients on their patent and trade secret protection strategies. He regularly lectures and publishes on patent and trade secret topics. He received the Dutch AIPPI award for his publication on obtaining evidence of patent infringement.
Ruud received the Managing IP ‘Patent Practitioner of the Year’ Award for the Netherlands in 2024. He is also the recipient of the Gold Hourglass Award and two Client Choice Awards. Ruud is recommended by all legal directories, including Chambers, Legal 500, JUVE, IAM and IP Stars.
