Hogan Lovells continues expansion in Italy with the hire of five Corporate & Finance partners

Milan, Rome, 30 January 2025 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has announced that a highly-regarded Corporate & Finance team will be joining the firm based in Milan. The new team consists of five partners:

  • Iacopo Canino 
  • Alessandro Seganfreddo 
  • Piero de Mattia
  • Bianca Caruso
 

The new team focuses on M&A, private equity, capital markets, leveraged finance, and private credit, providing significant additional strength to the firm’s transactional capabilities in Italy and EMEA. 

This also represents another important investment in the firm’s Italian practice: Hogan Lovells has now welcomed over 50 people to its Italian practices in the last year alone.

Ferigo Foscari is recognized as a leading lawyer in securities and M&A transactions and has strong public M&A experience. He has extensive capital markets experience, advising issuers and investment banks in both equity and debt offerings. In the ECM area, he has advised on a broad range of IPOs, secondary offerings, and block trades. In the DCM area, he has significant experience in Eurobonds, Euro private placements, covenanted Eurobonds, EMTN, and GMTN programs for Italian issuers. 

Iacopo Canino is widely recognized as a leading finance lawyer and has worked on a large number of the most representative financing transactions in the Italian market over the past decades, including numerous bank financings, private credit, and high yield transactions. He is particularly versed in complex cross-border transactions and in leveraged finance. Iacopo has extensive experience and focus on private credit and direct lending, having been at the forefront of this fast-growing market since its emergence in Italy. 

Alessandro Seganfreddo is recognized in private equity, M&A, and capital markets. He regularly assists Italian and international private equity sponsors, strategic players, and investment banks on cross-border and domestic transactions in a number of sectors – including healthcare, life sciences, infrastructure, financial services, industrial, consumer, technology, media, and telecommunications. 

Piero de Mattia is a dual qualified lawyer (Italy and New York) with more thanover 20 years of experience in capital markets, corporate and M&A. His practice focuses on IPOs,rights issues, ABBs, RABBs, SBB, convertible and EL bonds, tender offers, private and public M&A transactions. In addition, he provides guidance to issuers and financial institutions on corporate governance and regulatory matters, including MAR and transparency. 

Bianca Caruso has over 15 years’ experience in debt finance, and general corporate and commercial law. She assists both credit providers and borrowers/issuers and private equity sponsors on financing transactions, with particular focus on corporate finance, leveraged finance, acquisition finance and real estate finance transactions. In addition, Bianca has significant expertise in private credit and direct lending, and high yield transactions.  

After the integration of the new team, Hogan Lovells Italy will have a total of approx. 140 lawyers, including 31 partners.
